Diorama

In class for topic we made a Diorama. I made one with my buddy Sophie. We made our diorama on a kiwi.

Room 5 Camp 2017

Room 5 went on camp to Hanmer Springs. I had a great time and enjoyed going to the hot pools.

Flicka The Sloth

We wrote a poem about a sloth. We had to describe the character, setting,  its special talent, problem, its feeling and  how it solved the problem. Here is my poem. 

Long ago there was a sloth wandering around the jungle who was very slow!

Flicka lived in a hollow where she would sleep, and stay safe from predators.

She could hang upside down and she dangled down on thin bamboo branches.

One day she was climbing around on high branches when a tiger came along, luckily she was up high but that didn’t really help her.

Flicka felt scared cause she knew the tiger would eat her, but it didn’t.

At that moment the tiger slipped off of the branch, hurt itself, then ran away till it was out of sight, and Flicka the sloth went back home to sleep and live another day.

The Kiwi and the Cat

In class I have been learning how to make a Stop Motion Animation and make it look better by making my characters smaller and bigger to make it look real.

Netball Court

In class we had to measure our school netball court. We had to estimate it by measuring the width and the length by steps. Every two steps was a metre.   Then we had to measure the perimerter which is the whole outside of the netball court. Tane Jake and I made a drawing about it.

Kiwi Creche

Room 5 went to the Kiwi Creche to see the great spotted kiwi. Tane and myself made a slideshow about it. Enjoy!

Pet Day

In week One 2017 we had Pet Day at school. I made a slideshow with my buddy Deakyn.

Morepork

In class we have been learning about the Morepork.  We made a slideshow about it and wrote down some information about it. We had to research and write about it. Our group worked together well and made a great slideshow and here it is. Enjoy!

Pompeii

In class we have been reading about Pompeii. Pompeii is a city in Italy and which had been covered up by lava from a mountain called Mount Vesuvius. I made a slideshow with a Screencastify with my friends Alex and Miro. We made the slideshow like a diary. Enjoy!

Reflection on Writing

We are learning to reflect on our learning.

I learned that in a report you need to have paragraphs on each topic. I still need to work on making my paragraphs longer. I enjoyed writing in paragraphs because I find it easier to write. I thought that writing down the right information in the right paragraph was hard. I think I could write a better report if I didn't get distracted and had more information. I think when I put the report onto my blog I try to keep it to a good standard of writing so I don't have to go back and keep fixing up.

I think it was easier to work on my own so I don’t get distracted. I think that talking to each other went okay. I think that we could have got distracted less and written more. Next time I will work with just one person and sit somewhere quiet.

Tranzalpine train and holiday recount

On 17th of August 2017 Mum and I went on a holiday and went on the Tranzalpine train Here is my slideshow about how it went. Enjoy! 

Beach Stop Motion Animation (SMA)

On Wednesday 6th of September we had  a different teacher for the day. We made a stop motion animation. We were allowed to choose our own setting and our own story about something. I made mine about a beach race with me and my cat. Hope you enjoy it!

In class we have been learning about the tuatara. We had to research about it then put our research  onto a sheet where everyone had to put their research at the same time.Then we had to write down key words then we started writing a report. Here is Isabel's and my slideshow.

We have been working on some name art in Room 5. We wrote our names on A3 paper then once we got the right size  we wrote our names in bubble letters. We coloured the name in, went round it with Vivid, then drew patterns around the name.We used coloured pencils and Sharpie's.

In Room 5 we are learning to  describe a setting and a character in our writing. We each wrote our own description. Here is mine.

Snow on the Hill.

It was a cold and windy day. On the big straight frozen road there was a car slowly driving along. As the grey sad looking clouds very slowly lifted away, the trees  swayed from side to side.   You could hear the ice softly crackling then there was a different sound; they looked up and spotted the branches from the ash trees snapping and falling onto the car roof. There was not a single animal in sight. Oliver was playing on his i-pad in the back seat of the car. Oliver was wearing a blue scarf, green gloves, red gumboots, a blue jacket and black pants. He was feeling excited because he was going to play in the snow at the park that was about five minutes from his house.  When he got to the park he wanted to make a gigantic snowman that had sticks as arms.
